Think Make Play

The creative technology work by the School of Computing and Digital Media's Class of 2020 is presented in an online showcase.

Date: 11 August 2020

Work by graduating students from a number of creative technology and computing courses in the School of Computing and Digital Media are presented on Think Make Play, an online showcase which replaces the usual campus event.

The projects on Think Make Play are presented across three main showreels. Artificial Intelligence Demos features work by students on BSc Games Programming, BSc Computing, BSc Software Engineering and PhD Computer Science including machine learning cars with neural networks, football broadcast analysis, and algorithms for enemy agent behaviour. The Games and Toys 2020 reel features innovative work by students on BSc Games Programming, Bsc Games, Animation Modelling and Effects (GAME) and BA Digital Media. The projects include surreal games environments, an intergalactic roadside diner and a fully functioning racing game platform constructed from electronic components and a cardboard box. Finally, the Art, Animation and VFX 2020 showreel highlights creative pieces from students on BSc Games, Modelling, Animation and Effects (GAME). Here you can travel to a lighthouse on an island floating above the clouds, enjoy characters including raptors and mutants and a sinister circus monkey and explore imagined worlds. Several of the projects shown are accompanied by music from the school’s successful BSc Music Technology and Production course.

Fiona French, Course Leader in Games Programming who put the Think Make Play site together said, “This year we can't have a proper party. We wish we could invite you over for a chat and show you around so we are having a virtual celebration instead. If you like what you see, be sure to get in touch, either to contact some of the talented developers or to inquire about joining us on a creative journey!”

The celebrations aren't quite over. The team are running a small Think Make Play game jam starting on the 15th August with the theme of ENDLESS. At least one member of participating teams should be a current or past Londonmet student. Join in here https://itch.io/jam/thinkmakeplay-jam

If you would be interested in joining a creative technology or computing course at London Metropolitan University in September 2020 through UCAS Clearing, please visit our Clearing Page for details.
