Date: 05 March 2020

London Metropolitan University is set to co-host the 2020 Euro Food Summit (EFS-2020), a major event which brings together food scientists, food technologists, food engineers, academics, students and business leaders working in the field of food and nutrition.

The food industry plays a significant role in the global economy. It demands viable solutions to ensure a sustainable supply chain, from growing ingredients, to formulating new products and technologies, to ensuring rigorous safety standards are upheld. The Summit aims to strengthen the global food community, from industry to academic, to discuss developments in the sector.

The theme of this year’s summit will be nanotechnology and biotechnology and how they can be applied to food production, processing and packaging. Director of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Dr Pradip Chakraborthy, will deliver a keynote address.

EFS-2020 will provide an innovative and comprehensive overview of the latest trends and potential future in Food Science Technology, develop a cross-cultural understanding of various practices related to food, and the challenges faced by growing global populations. There will also be a session for research organisations to present their findings to an international audience.

The summit will be held on 20-21 May 2020 in London. Those interested in attending can register on the EFS-2020 website.
