Dietetics and Nutrition students from London Metropolitan University were given the opportunity to share their expertise and network at a major expo held at ExCel London.
Date: 1 December 2017
Each year, London Metropolitan University students are given the chance to share their knowledge and expertise with hundreds of food sector companies and organisations at Food Matters Live held on 21-23 November at London’s ExCel.
Food Matters Live is the UK's only cross-sector event bringing together the food and drink industry, retailers, food service providers, government and those working in nutrition, to enable collaboration and innovation to support a sustainable food landscape for the future.
Over 30 London Met Dietetics and Human Nutrition students contributed to the University’s stall by undertaking measurements of body composition for expo attendees.
Eddy Turner, a BSc Dietetics and Nutrition student, said: “I like to make the most of these events and I had a lot of fun at Food Matters Live - I came, I saw, I ate!
“I also found out some things about myself by taking part in an investigation into diet and lifestyle. Before the event, I was interested in the use of insects as sustainable high protein food products and managed to find the stand and had an in depth discussion with the owner.”
Sarah Illingworth, London Met’s Head of Health Sciences, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their knowledge and demonstrate what they are learning in class.
“Events like this give our students the chance to network with leaders in the food industry and engage with the latest innovations in the sector.”
