This five-day course is designed to give you a basic understanding of modern and traditional finishing. With additional practice, this will enable you to build on and gain sufficient skills that could lead to employment within the industry or help you set up your own business.

Who's this course for?

This course is suitable for individuals with little or no prior experience but who have a desire to gain the necessary skills to hand finish their own projects and develop their knowledge and skills further.

Course structure

Skills covered on the course include:

  • surface preparation
  • material preparation
  • compliant air atomising and airless/air assisted spray equipment
  • troubleshooting
  • operation techniques
  • staining
  • grain filling
  • colour matching
  • French polishing techniques

You will develop your skills and competence in the subject with the help of demonstrations, tutorials and discussions.

What's included in the price?

Materials are included in the course fees.

You will need at least one project to start the course but two is preferable to give you something else to work on while the finish on your other item is drying for example. You will not be able to attend the course without a project and please bear in mind our storage facilities are limited when choosing your pieces. Depending on the scope of your project,?it may not be possible to complete it over the duration of the course. You will however be taught the skills to do this at home should you need to.
