Responsible procurement

As a part of the wider higher education sector and operating as a business within our local community, this University, when making its procurement decisions must consider the environmental, social and economic impact of activities through design, material selection, manufacturing, transportation, usage and disposal options.

Procurement Policy

The University practises sustainable procurement to increase value for money while minimising environmental damage and waste.

This policy applies to all employees of the University who make purchases on behalf of the University. We use our procurement and contract management activities to encourage sustainable behaviour.

Fairtrade University

London Metropolitan University has achieved Fairtrade University Status, which ensures better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers throughout our supply chain.

Electronics Watch

Through it's association with the London Universities Purchasing Consortium, the University is affiliated to Electronics Watch, which increases supply chain transparency and improves conditions for electronics workers.
 

London Living Wage

The University is an accredited employer of the Living Wage Foundation and pays the London Living Wage to all staff including contract staff.
